The Toronto Blue Jays have been sitting with +1000 betting odds since the commencement of Spring training.
However, the club has already seen this drop to +1200 for it to win the 2017 MLB Championship. Yet, even with the drop in sports betting odds, the club remains steady with their total over/under wins with it being 86.5. There have been some diehard fans who have panicked watching their club falter slightly, but one needs to remember that the Blue Jays were rated one of the top teams in the Grapefruit League for both the 2015 and 2016 season.
One contributing factor is the absence of Jose Bautista, Devon Travis, and Josh Donaldson, each of whom was away for Spring Training due to the World Baseball Classic. One new player on the roster, Steve Pearce was also dealing with an injury sustained during batting. It is expected that in order to place at the top of the Championship this year that Bautista, Donaldson, and Tullowiski remain on the active roster and be healthy. Donaldson has strong betting odds and is anticipated to lead in the battle for most home runs. Many are predicting he will average .276 with 34 home runs batted in this year.
One thing is certain, and that is The Toronto Blue Jays have one of the best lineups in the AL East, falling just behind The Baltimore Orioles and Boston Red Sox. They furthermore seem to possess the number two rotation in the Al East, again falling just behind Boston. This puts the Jays in a position that could see the club in the number one spot should David Price of the Red Sox continue to experience issues with his elbow.
The Toronto BlueJays betting odds, currently sitting at +250 clearly indicated that the club could see a second place finish and qualify for the wild card spot in the Al East division. While touted as the underdog, the latest odds favour the club to make the playoffs. Current odds have the club at +120 for a playoff spot and -150 for them to fall short.
