The NCAA tournaments started in 1939 when Ohio State was defeated by Oregon in the championships, and the CCNY Beavers won the 1950 tournaments.
By 1980 the NCAA expanded in 1980 to 48 teams and to 64 teams in 1985, in 2011, 68 teams were invited.
The NCAA March Madness Tournament starts on Thursday the 16th of March and runs until Friday the 17th of March featuring sixteen games on each of the two action packed days. Games take place on the 23 and 25th of March 2017 - Midwest Regional in Sprint Centre, Kansas City, and Missouri hosted by Big 12 Conference. Pac-12 Conference hosts the West Regional; SAP Centre, San Jose, California.
Matches on the 24th and 26th of March 2017 - East Regional, Madison Square Garden New York hosted by Big East Conference and St. John's University, while the Memphis University host South Region, FedExFormum, Memphis, Tennessee.
The semi-finals and finals take place on the 1st and 3rd of April 2017 at the University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, Arizona hosted by the Arizona State University.
